Description

This course will introduce students to early childhood care and education, including historical and multicultural perspectives. The foundational principles of learning and development for children ages birth to 8, with a full range of diverse abilities, will be shared. Students will be introduced to authentic assessment of learning and development, the curriculum development process, and intentional teaching strategies. Students will reflect on the importance of building partnerships with families and professional colleagues, guiding young children through social-emotional growth and development, and using Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) in every aspect of our work with young children and families.

This course meets the Council for Professional Recognition CDA Subject Areas, 1-4.
