Description

This course is the result of splitting CHLD 132 (5cr), into a 2-credit practicum Field Course and a 3-credit Curriculum Development Course.

Field hours used to be attached to a 5-credit curriculum development and assessment course (CHLD 132) A need for change developed after several students had to retake the more costly 5-credit course but their deficits were mainly field-related. This is deemed even more appropriate with the switch to competency-based education. Each student's skills and competencies are tracked throughout their time in the ECE program with multiple opportunities to demonstrate mastery across courses. A field-specific course where skills and competencies can be tracked and assessed is efficient and cost-effective for students.

This course is offered within the ECE pathway only and all ECE majors must take it for both the Certificate and AAS degree.
