Description

This course is designed to provide instructional, clinical, and lab learning experiences in the provision of evidence-based nursing care to individuals experiencing psychiatric mental health disorders. The lecture portion of this course will emphasize the concepts of mood and affect, stress and coping, advocacy, safety, therapeutic communication and managing care. The clinical and lab components of this course are designed to assist students in integrating critical thinking and decision making throughout the nursing process to improve the care of patients experiencing psychiatric mental health disorders. Prerequisite: Officially accepted into the A.D.N. Bridge Program (370) and “C†or better in PSYC 201, ENGL 101, BIOL 213, and BIOL 214. Officially accepted into the A.D.N Bridge Program (370), unencumbered L.P.N license, and “C†or better in PSYC 201, ENGL 101, BIOL 213, and BIOL 214. To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of a “C†or better in program courses.
