Description

The Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course is designed specifically for trauma care providers who are the first to assess and initiate treatment for the trauma patient. This course combines basic and advanced training that is appropriate for all levels of EMS personnel including Emergency Medical
Responders, EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, as well as trauma nurses, emergency nurses, and emergency physicians. Utilizing both didactic and simulation methodologies, this course provides complete training for the skills needed for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transport of trauma patients. This course provides teaching and evaluation in keeping with standards of care and current guidelines as set forth by the International Trauma Support organization. Prerequisites: Acceptance into Paramedic Associate in Applied Science following the course sequence and "C" or better in all program courses or permission of the Instructor.
