Description

Course Description and Outcomes
The purpose of this workshop is to provide necessary tools for successful precepting. Topics to be covered include principles of adult learning, teaching strategies in the clinical setting, communication and conflict management. Strategies to help prepare graduate nurses for successful transition into practice will also be explored, including the importance of developing and applying critical thinking skills, evidence based practice and clinical competency. Additionally, review of clinically significant topics related to select aspects of the Michigan Public Health code such as responsibilities of registered nursing and delegation in addition to current issues in pain management will also be included in this workshop.

Outcomes:
? Describe the preceptor role in partnership with Bay de Noc Community College.
? Identify how to apply adult learning principles as a preceptor.
? Identify at least two effective strategies for teaching in the clinical set
