Registration Holds

Bay College may add a warning message or hold to your student record for different reasons.

  • A warning message is just a reminder that you need to take care of something related to your record. It won’t stop you from registering for classes.
  • A hold, however, means you won’t be able to register or access certain records until the issue is resolved.

If you see a warning or hold on your account, be sure to check what it’s for and take action as soon as possible!

Hold Descriptions

  1. Academic Warning/Hold: The Registrar may place a warning message or hold on your account if you do not meet the academic standards outlined in the Standards of Academic Progress.
  2. Financial Hold: The Student Accounts Office may place a hold on your account if you have unpaid charges with the college. This hold can prevent you from registering for classes or getting your transcripts.

To resolve the issue, contact the Student Accounts Office at (906) 217-4062 or email Cashier@baycollege.edu as soon as possible.

  3. Library Resource Hold: The library may place a hold on your account if you haven't returned a borrowed item or haven't paid your fines. This hold can block your registration. To resolve the issue, please contact the library at (906) 217-4055 or email libraryhepo@baycollege.edu

  4. Registration Hold: A hold might be put on your record for different reasons. If you see a hold on your account, please contact the Records & Registration Office to resolve it. You can reach them at (906) 217-4129 or registration@baycollege.edu

  5. Declare Major Warning:

If you graduated but are still taking classes without choosing a new major, a warning message will appear on your record.

    • You can still register for classes, but you won’t get an academic advisor, and your financial aid might be affected.
    • To fix this, contact the Registrar or complete a Change of Major form on myBay.
