Description
This course is designed to help students develop the reading and writing skills necessary to succeed in ENGL-101 Rhetoric & Composition. Students will learn strategies to improve their reading comprehension, word recognition, critical thinking, and active reading skills to become more proficient readers. Students will also learn to write unified paragraphs and essays that are supported by concrete details and organized logically. Practice in sentence construction, punctuation, grammar, and vocabulary is also emphasized. The computing center will be utilized throughout the course. Prerequisites: COMPASS Writing score of 0-68 and/or COMPASS Reading score of 0-77. This course does not fulfill degree requirements and does not transfer. Completion of this course satisfies E and R prerequisites.
