Description

This course provides foundational knowledge and skills to prepare Practical Nurse students to effectively and safely perform common tasks performed in the clinical setting. This is a lab course in which students will learn and demonstrate skills associated with physical assessment and patient care in keeping with current Licesnsed Practical Nurse (LPN) Scope and Standards of Practice, the NCLEX-PN Study Plan, and industry expectations in providing care. Students will explore and apply basic principles of clinical judgment in developing a plan of care based on assessment findings and in performing various interventions utilizing skills learned in this course to prepare them for clinical practice. Prerequisite: Officially accepted into the Practical Nursing Certificate program and following the required sequence of courses. Concurrent: This course is designed to be taken concurrently with NURS 1101 Fundamental Nursing Theory, NURS 1103 Fundamentals Nursing Clinical, and NURS 1104 Practical Nursing Pharmacology.
