Description

This course will incorporate and build upon knowledge and skills obtained in NURS 1101 and NURS 1102 and other program courses as the LPN Student completes their first clinical rotation and begins to provide direct patient care. In this course, the student will have an opportunity to participate in providing care to adult patients experiencing a variety of health alterations with a primary focus on the geriatric population. Students will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills attained in theory and skills lab in learning how to provide safe, patient centered care in the LPN role in the clinical setting through performing assessments, develop plans of care and providing interventions, and apply the nursing process within the context of the clinical judgment model. Prerequisite: Officially accepted into the Practical Nursing Certificate program and following the required sequence of courses. Students must have successfully passed NURS 1102 Fundamentals Skills Lab to progress to NURS 1103. Concurrent: This course is designed to be taken concurrently with NURS 1101 Fundamentals Nursing Theory, NURS 1102 Fundamentals Skills Lab, and NURS 1104 PN Pharmacology.
