Description

This course provides a family centered approach to the care of childbearing women and their families, newborns, and children from the practical nursing perspective. Focus is on the care of the pregnant woman, before, during and after birth including common complications of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum timeframe. The course will also explore the newborn as well as growth and development of the child including common pediatric disorders experienced from birth through adolescence. Concurrent: To progress in the program, the student must maintain a grade of C or better in practical nursing program courses. Prerequisite: Entrance in the PN nursing program and courses completed in sequence.
