TRIO Club

TRIO Club is a social, cultural, academic, and service-oriented student organization dedicated to fostering community among first generation, low-income, and disabled college students at Bay College.

Activities include

  • TRIClub Meetings—TRIO Club is a social, cultural, academic, and service-oriented student organization dedicated to fostering community among first-generation, low-income, and disabled college students at Bay College. Members meet monthly in the TRIO Nook - HUB 816 for "Grub in the HUB with the TRIO club".  A free lunch is offered, a topic of discussion may be covered, we discuss and plan college social events and service-projects in the community, socialize, and brainstorm fundraising options for their annual spring trip during their monthly meetings. TRIClub is a wonderful way to build leadership skills and meet other students.

  • TRIO Club Service Projects— Twice a semester, TRIO Club and other interested students participate in a service project that will benefit the community. In the past these projects have included volunteering at a soup kitchen, raking leaves for a community organization, volunteering at the Delta Animal Shelter, and highway clean-up. Participants get a free lunch and many comment that they enjoy both the social and vocational aspects of these projects.

  • TRIO Socials— Throughout the semester TRIO students receive free snacks and free admission to any campus activity board (CAB) events when they attend TRIO Socials. TRIO Socials meet for 45 minutes before each event, during which participants can eat and socialize. Participants then receive their tickets and enjoy the show! TRIO Socials are a great  opportunity to meet or reconnect with other TRIO students and have some fun between the rigors of academic life.

  • Cultural Trips Once during each academic year, TRIO students are offered the opportunity to participate in a free cultural trip. These trips include transportation, a free gourmet meal, and admission to an event. In the past, students have attended shows at Chicago’s Second City and Broadway, toured Lambeau Field, visited Milwaukee’s art museums and Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium, dined at a Japanese steakhouse, and taken a ferry to Mackinac Island. These trips are a wonderful way to experience people, food, and culture outside of Bay College while making new friends and memories along the way!

  • Flight Nights—TRIO Club hosts a once-a-semester social event for TRIO students, friends, and families. These potluck events are themed (Halloween in the fall; Valentine’s Day in the winter) and give participants the opportunity to eat, socialize, karaoke, play board games and video games, and enter a costume contest. Join us and “fly away” from the stresses of academic life for a night!
