MRIT AAS- Consortium

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program is offered through a partnership of Bay de Noc Community College and the following colleges: Kellogg Community College, Lansing Community College, Mid-Michigan Community College, Grand Rapids Community College, Lake Michigan College, and Grand Valley State University. The six colleges established the Educational Programs in Collaboration (EPiC) Consortium for the purpose of sharing instructional resources to offer the MRI program. Each college enrolls students in that program under that college’s admission criteria and each awards the degree according to that college’s completion requirements.

The program has two pre-requisites entrance requirement semesters noted below.  The second per-requisites semester is traditionally in the Winter, and during this semester students can be in progress with the second semester classes, when we award the seats.  The awarding of seats happens in March for students starting in our May/Summer semester in the Consortium MRIT courses.

Students must apply to the program by going to the Apply Online tab to the left of this computer screen.  Students receive word about entry into the program in mid to late March for a May/Summer start in the program.

The program entrance requirements are: 2.0 GPA, completed the two pre requisite semester classes: with all courses being pass with a "C" or better, the higher the GPA's the better chances of entry.

Pre Requisite First Semester-students must pass with a "C" or better.

Pre Requisite Second Semester- students must pass with a "C" or better, students can be awarded a seat in Winter semester, with the five classes below being in progress.  It is verified after grades post a student passed with a "C" or better to continue if awarded into semester three.

Students must complete first semester and second semester classes as part of competitive entry process and students are awarded a seat in March for May start each year.  Students are awarded seats in the MRIT program by an official email from the Student Affairs Manager.

Third Semester-Summer - Students are awarded a seat to start THIRD semester MRIT Course sequencing:

Out of State students could complete this program with additional steps.  Here are all the things to talk to them about.

The student will need to have all pre requisites complete or in progress by March as the program begins each May.

The student has to have a Hospital that is willing to apprentice them.  And the MWTEC MRI Clinical Coordinator  will be the one who will work on that with a student-ONLY if th student has all pre requisites complete and has a Hospital system willing to apprentice the student.  Out of state also means the MWTEC MRI Clinical Coordinator/Bay College must obtain an affiliation agreement with the hospital, and this can take up to eight months to complete.  Sometimes the department MRI staff wants to do this, but the organization itself has processes they must go through to sign an affiliation agreement outside of their state.
