Paramedic admissions requirements

Hello,

All students interested in becoming a Paramedic, must be a Licensed EMT.  Students start out at Bay in a Pre- Paramedic degree called Liberal Arts.  The Paramedic program has a competitive entry process.  The office of Allied Health awards students a seat in the program once an advising appointment has been complete, your application is on file and rolling admissions criteria has been met.   We award seats after May grades each year, and until the program is full but, no later than July 30th. The Paramedic Program begins each Fall in Escanaba, MI.

Bay's Paramedic Rolling Admissions process requires students to have completed the following steps:

  • Have an established cumulative GPA at or above a 2.50 or higher in at least 2 or more of the following courses BIOL104, COMM 103, ENGL 101, PSYC 201.
  • Have an unrestricted current State of Michigan EMT License prior to the first day of class in Fall Semester.
  • Submit a valid Drivers License and Driving Record
  • Applicants must take the Bay College CEVO Ambulance Driving Course or hold a current State approved driving certification from a course that contains both didactic and practical methods.  We will accept applicants without an approved course, on a contingency basis, with the expectation that the Bay College CEVO Ambulance Driving Course is obtained during the Paramedic Completion Program.  Students who are required to register for the Bay Ambulance Driving Course must provide a valid Driver’s License and DMV Driving Record at the time of registration.
  • Additionally, if awarded a seat in the program, students must meet the Background check, drug testing and immunization requirements.  All directions will be provided to the student during the awarding of a seat. NOTICE: MICHIGAN PUBLIC ACTS 27, 28, and 29 of 2006 for Clinical Experiences requires Bay College to provide our affiliating agencies with students who have no prohibited offenses (www.miltcpartnership.com).

The Paramedic program is not only competitive entry, but you must also follow a sequence of courses to progress each semester. The Paramedic Completion Associates Degree is a three semester program.  To see the course sequencing follow the link to the Catalog and scroll down to course sequencing, first semester, second semester and third semester. After reviewing the course sequencing if you decide to apply to the program you are welcome to Apply by choosing Apply Online from the left of this screen and then select the EMT / Paramedic application, fill in and submit.
